Commencement Forensic Psychology Evaluation, Treatment, & Consultation, P.C.
The first “forensic psychologists” were nine medical experts invited to the court to testify during Daniel M’Naghten’s 1843 trial. They opined M’Naghten was experiencing paranoid delusions, the jury provided a not guilty by reason of insanity verdict, and M’Naghten spent the rest of his life in an institution.
Formal training programs for forensic psychologists did not emerge until not much more than 50 years ago.
